Israel Proved Walls Do Not Work

Please note some of the statements in this article is sarcasm, but the data provided is accurate to the best of my knowledge.
This is my last post about gun control or border issues because I am not aware of any arguments that statistics support contrary to my opinions.
I apologize for the timing of this post. Considering the importance of the upcoming tax increase, I do not want to add to the noise of hot button issues, such as border security, that seem to be raised every time there is an upcoming vote on a fiscal policy or a negotiation with China.
However, I will take the bait for a little bit and opine. Fences work. Please see the homicide rate differences between the United States and Mexico since the secure Fence Act of 2006
.

Even with Mexico’s extremely restrictive gun laws, they have been unable to keep homicides in check. I am guessing this due to the inflationary pressures of our imports.
They should allow their citizens to protect themselves, their families, friends, and property with firearms. The data is available to make these decisions, except for the data from 2019, and 2020 from Brazil for some reason.
I have yet to find any published data on the results of Brazil lessening restrictions on guns, a year after the biggest annual decline of percentages of reported homicides in any country in recorded history. My guess would be that since it was not published, it proves the obvious. Criminals do not like to be shot and the threat of the police taking away someone’s guns increases their incentive not to commit assault, even if socially acceptable.
However, what is the United States to do to solve our border security problem? Clearly, we cannot copy Israel’s model.
They built a fence for 2.9 million dollars a mile that cut illegal immigration down from 16,000 in 2011 to 18 in 2012. Considering the costs of the stimulus packages in the house, it would be impossible to institute one of these along our southern border. It would cost over 5.5 billion dollars to build one along the entire southern border.
This is something the United States cannot afford. Especially considering it costs on average about 200K to put one child through K – 12 education in the United States.
For the wall to pay for itself in education costs alone, it would need to stop at least 28,000 children from entering the country. This is impossible.
Warmest Regards,
